WHAT IS OUR PREVENTION PROGRAM?
We take a personalized, community-based approach to support families with children in maintaining permanent housing through rental assistance.
WHO WE SERVE
No matter your family structure, if you have a minor child and are facing housing uncertainty, we’re here to stand with you and guide you toward stability.
We work with:

Families with children
-
Pregnant individuals
-
Single parents with a child in their care/custody
Qualifications
-
Minor Child in your care
-
Income is less than 8-% of the area median income
-
Lease in Waukesha County
-
Must not be more than four months behind on rent
-
Has not accessed rental assistance from another organization for a total of four or more months in the last 12 months
HOW PREVENTION WORKS
With your goals in mind, we’ll help you develop a rental support plan that works for you.
This includes:

Connecting to community resources for food, childcare, employment, and more

Landlord tenant course on how to be a positive tenant

Financial Literacy, work on a monthly budget
-
Short-term financial help or relocation assistance

Case management
Housing struggles can be overwhelming, but we’re here to help you explore solutions and stand with you throughout the process.
WHAT TO EXPECT
You will complete a contact form, a Family Advocate will reach out to you via email with in 2-3 business days and:

You will schedule an appointment via phone

Begin the intake assessment process to see if you qualify for assistance (qualifications listed below)

You must provide proper documentation

You will also need to give Family Promise of Waukesha County permission to speak with your landlord

We will need your lease and ledger from your landlord directly
-
When we have the documentation listed above we schedule a home visit where our family advocate will come to your home
-
Rental assistance will be provided
-
Case Management is provided
