1. DIALOGUE OF HOPE
You are invited to join us on Tuesday, October 18 for a Dialogue of Hope with Michelle, a former guest of Family Promise.
Michelle stayed in the shelter in the fall of 2018. Four years later, she owns her own home. During this evening you will be able to hear her story and ask questions. We will also dialogue about the current housing market and how it is impacting families experiencing homelessness today. This session is part of our celebration of Family Promise Week from October 16-23.

3. STATIC SITE
Family Promise of Waukesha County, Inc. is searching for a facility that can be used as a stationary site to shelter families. We are pursuing a facility where families stay and volunteers would come to the shelter. This is one of the many ways that other affiliates across the country have adjusted their shelter program.
Secondly, we are exploring the idea of providing transitional affordable housing for low-income families. Those who have read this space on a regular basis know that the shortage of affordable housing is the number one factor impacting the families we serve. We want to do more than identify a problem; we want to provide solutions.
Ideally, we would like to utilize a facility that could accommodate both objectives. You could help us by sharing with us any facility you know that might be available -- maybe if it isn’t even on the market yet. Of course, as a non-profit organization, we are always interested in a donated option.
Here are some of the criteria we are using to find a site:
Shelter facility:
Ability to shelter 4-6 families in “mini-apartments” with full bath
Shared kitchen and cafeteria
Access to public transportation
Space for seminars
Office space for staff
Confidential meeting space for case management
Meeting room
Playroom for children
Sleeping space for volunteers
Adequate parking for clients and volunteers
Welcome/hospitality area
Laundry facilities
Storage
For the apartments, our criteria is:
Provide 4-8 apartments
1000-1200 sq. feet per apartment
2 or 3 bedrooms (a mix is ideal)
Full bath
Living room
Kitchenette
We would be open to purchasing a four family or larger and starting with land and building.
